so im installing snow leopard on a white macbook, i put a new 320 gig hard drive in there and the optical drive is bad on the macbook so i have it hooked up via firewire to my mbp. i was able to use disk utility via booting up my computer through target disk mode, then rebooted, booted off the cd drive this time from the mbp and the snow leopard installer ran, i selected the newely formatted and partitioned hard disk but the install screen seems stuck at 28 minutes. it hasnt moved forever.

any ideas? fixes?

edit: it has now moved from 28 to 29 minutes. is this normal for it take this long since its running via firewire and another mac?

Have you prepped the machine in anyway for the update? Verify/Repair Permissions, Verify/Repair Disk, routine maintenance tasks, backed up, etc?

Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

actually seems okay now, slowly moving along its at 19 minutes now. i think everything is going to be okay. i was kind of worried at how long it had been stuck for.

and i didn't run any preps since the hard drive was new and just formatted., has nothing on it

let it sit

the install took 45 minutes one one machine and 1:10 on another from internal drive on mine

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.
