OS 10.5 - Add MP3 to iTunes

Hi Guys,
Lately I am experiencing this peculiar problem with my iTunes. I downloaded a mp3 song from internet. When I click on that song, iTunes opens up but neither it is adding that song to the library nor it is playing it. I am not sure what can be the problem as it never happened before for mp3 songs. Can anyone help me with this?

It's possible that the file is corrupted or didn't download properly. Try converting the file to aac and see what happens.

Is there any suggestion how can I convert that to AAC out of iTunes? I don't think the file is corrupted as I can play that file on Real Player.
