hi there, new to the forum and mac world, what i want to know, is it worth it to upgrade my current os x 10.4.11 to 10.5.6, i know i need the new os for some of the new software, other than that is it worth it..

Mac Specs: iMac i5 2.7GHz OS X.8.3

Matter of opinion but personally say yes yes yes!!! Of course your machine must meet the criteria and suggest at least 1.5GHz processing speed and 2GB memory. You do not give machine specs in your avatar.

Suggest you do an archive and install. All your current folder etc are maintained in a folder entitled "Old System' or something similar.
