Why not just change the system language to English?

Most of the time I write in portuguese and I like to use the spelling features of OSX. When I set my system to english, everything I write is taken by a mistake with that red underlining In almost every word.
Is there a way to, setting my system to english, make the spelling features work in portuguese? It would be great once, as iTunes translates the music genres, lots of things gets quite creepy

I doubt that very much, though I do reserve the right to be proven wrong.

Yes: Right-click in any text box, select 'Spelling > Show Spelling & grammar'. Then, from the drop-down menu at the bottom of that window, select 'Portogues'. If you do mixed tying (portuguese and english) select 'Multilingual'.

That's the way I use it, as I often need to write german stuff as well.
