Trying to migrate but can't!

I just got a unibody MBP and I want to migrate everything from my old MBP to it. Whenever I try to backup my old MBP it stops at 27GB and restarts for some reason (therefore stopping the backup process) and when I try to migrate directly from Migration Assistant, it also goes wrong, and comes up with an error message.
Any idea what I can do?? I'm getting pretty frustrated.

I would connect the two machines via Firewire (you'll need a FW800=>FW800 cable). Then, start the old MBP in Target Disk Mode. It should be a snap.
If it doesn't work, you may need to run a Verify/Repair Disk on the old machine before attempting it.Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!
