I've updated to 10.5.7 on two machines and on both it's now difficult to take screen shots because the cursor disappears.

Press command - shift - 4 and move your cursor around.

Does everybody else see it disappearing?

Mine is a little hard to see on a really dark background.. What happens when you do a "command - shift - 4" then hit the Space bar? Does the camera show up clear ?

Mine looks about normal on my main iMac G5 but it does seem a bit hard to see on very dark backgrounds. I will try my other Mac's also and see if it's the same there. I always could see it though. The Command+Shift+4+Spacebar camera looked normal.

You're not the only one with the problem. Do you happen to have an ATI card?

Update, I read all the posts in the URL that Van provided. I do notice at default resolution the cursor is sort of blinking when you move it around while in Command+Shift+4 mode. If I zoom even one click it's smooth. My iMac G5 has an ATI Radeon X650. It never completely goes away but as it's being moved it blinking which it does not do zoomed in or at a different resolution.

So, perhaps this is resolution dependent and/or GPU dependent? This sounds like a weird issue.

Did some other tests. Powermac G4 Digital Audio upgraded to ATI Radeon 9800 Pro, Curser fades out and in when moving in Command+Shift+4 mode. If I move it really fast I can't see it at all. Worse than on the iMac G5 with Radeon x650 but same idea.

Mac Mini C2D with GMA950 Intel Graphics. Smooth as silk fast or slow. No blink or disappearing at all.

I have 2 other Macs with an ATI card. When I get back home tonight I will test those but I am willing to bet after these results they will have the same issue.

I probably would have noticed this myself after the 10.5.7 update but of late have been very ill and not doing as much as I normally do on my machines.

Interesting. This would be one of the few times I appreciate integrated graphics. Then again, this is just a minor hiccup.

Agreed. At the very worst I can still see where the cursor is. It just looks so non OSX, jerky.

With that thread you found on Apples forums I am sure a fix will be coming.

Yep, both Macs have ATI GPUs.
