Enable WindowBuffer Compression in Tiger?

- iMac 27" 3.4 GHz i7, AMD Radeon HD 6970M 2048 MB, 8 GB Ram running Mac OS X Lion 10.7
How do I enable windowbuffer compression in Mac OS X Tiger?
I have tried using System Optimizer X but when I go back to check it (even after reboot) its back to saying disabled.
