ok i just got a quiksilver from a family member and attempted to try to learn using it but...

1. none of the applications will open including safari, firefox, etc.

2. my cousin deleted her user name and made a new one as an admin if this means something

3. there are no documents, etc that can be opened

4. i don't have leopard install disks so reinstall wouldn't be my first option

5. if you go to applications, none of the programs show a "size" on it, it just shows as "--"

6. i've already set the master password to allow my user name to be an admin

what am i doing wrong, i can't figure it out?

G'day and welcome to the forums.

As it is a Quicksilver model Leopard may not install naturally. You require a processor faster that 867MHz. If less than the 867, suggest you look for Tiger OS X.4 full retail install DVD, black coloured discs and not the silver grey model; specific discs, and use that. They run at about $100.00 on eBay and similar auction sites.

If it is faster and you want Leopard you will have to do the same, again making sure you get the black full install DVD.

sorry, i mean panther.

i tried individually setting permissions on everything and using disc utility and booting in single user mode.

nothing works, i can't open any programs and if i try to install new programs it won't open either.

also, lol i have the silver tiger dvd install disks.

Well they will not work so you are back where you started eh looking for a retail install set?

You need to boot from the install disc when you have it and run Disk Utility>Repair Disk from there and do a format and install.
