OS 10.5 - Can't update to 10.5.6

I was on a 7 month break from fast internet, so I figured I needed to wait until I got somewhere where it was fast. But here I am, and I still can't update. I go to software update and tell it to install. It then prompts me to restart. When my macbook comes back up, it hangs up on "installing". My internet still isn't lightning fast, but I'll let it go for 30 min with no change. Any suggestions?

Download the combo update instead of using software update.
