I switched my laptop on this morning to find the apple logo was loading way too long, i switched it off thinking it was being slow today. I then switched it back on and a blank page appeared. I left it for a little while and still the apple sign wasnt loading and nothing was happening. I have switched it off and on again several times and yet nothing has happened. The last time i switched it on the apple logo appeared and after that a no access sign popped up. I have experienced the same thing with my laptop before, i still had apple care then and got it fixed. They said it had something to do with a software problem. Now that my apple care has ended i don't know what to do, can anyone help please? I still have all my work on it.

My laptop finally turned on but was loading really slow, i removed all my work and pictures and thought it best to reinstall the software. I put the disc in and went through all the options, it took about half an hour to check the disc then went on to install the software, the time kept going up and down so in the end after waiting a while i quit it. Big mistake now the installaton disc won't work and my laptop is not even going on now i really need help, a question mark on top of a file kepps flahing on and off what does this mean??

Sounds like the file system is damaged. You're probably going to need to boot from the installation disc, run Disk Utility from the Tools menu and format the drive before you start.

But to be honest, my gut tells me you've got a bad hard drive (or one that is headed south). I'd recommend running an Apple Hardware Test before you go any further.
