System Version: Mac OS X 10.4.11 (8S2167)

Last thing I downloaded and installed was "Desktop Manager"

After restart my desktop file descriptions were not regular text anymore, but strings of weird boxes with capital letter A inside each one.

I ran some Onyx repair tasks, and it seemed to solve the desktop problem.

But, when I go to finder and view any directory as a "list", it happens again, the boxes come back.

Also as a result, I cant launch programs like itunes, dreamweaver 8....

Attached are some screen shots of this strange phenomena.

First advice I'd give, is to delete it and upgrade to Leopard as use the built in Spaces. Seems it would do the same thing your trying to do.
Also, make sure it's compatible for your Mac and OS. Just glancing at the program, it was made under Panther. Might have seen the wrong version though...

When all else fails, try everything!

Borked Font caches:

Quote:
Prior to OS X 10.5, all font caches resided in the top-level Library -> Caches folder, in a file named com.apple.ATS. If you suspected a corrupted font cache, you just had to trash that file, then logout and login, and the problem would hopefully be gone.
