MacBook - Need assistance with extra monitor and Spaces

Hey guys,

Sometimes, if I am open in an application on one of the spaces on my right hand screen, and I open something inside that application, it moves the spaces across and opens it in that screen.

For example, If I have mail inbox open on my right hand screen in spaces number 2, and I open an email, it will jump back to spaces number 1 and open the email on the left hand screen. It does this with a few applications, and it is slightly annoying.

Can anybody help?
