Mac OS 9 and Classic Not running

I have Mac OS X (now 10.3.8) that someone installed for me when I bought their computer used. Anyway, I can't get Classic to run and the classic system folders/application folders aren't present on the HD, and when I go to preferences to select a file for classic to run on the HD can't be highlighted.
I tried booting OS 9 off of a CD by holding C, but it won't even boot (OS X starts up).

that means you dont have classic installed probably, so youl need the discs that came with your mac or the panther install discs and install classic support.

I have OS X 10.3 discs, but not the original iBook restore discs. Will these work? Also I'm assuming I just run the install with OS 9 support selected.

panther install disc should have something on it called install classic support or something like that that you can use to install cassic. if not, you only have a few, maybe one other option.
