Here is the issue I cant find anyway to fix

when the password prompt appears (e.g. when unlocking the screen saver or entering authorization in System Preferences), the dialog freezes for about five seconds—spinning beach ball of death and all.

PLEASE HELP THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY

Try more memory is the short answer as you do not supply machine details. Five seconds is not that long to wait, as memory does cost money.

My MacBook has always done this, I thought it was just a normal occurance. Mine also takes about 5 seconds and then you can enter your password and everything works fine.

I would be interested to find out if others have the same issue.
