OS 10.4 - iMac freezes after sleep

I have a 20" iMac (Intel Core 2 Duo model iMac7,1) running OS 10.4.11. At least half the time the cursor, mouse and keyboard freeze after waking from sleep. Anyone know a fix? Thanks.

oh oh...when mine did that, the drive died and had to be replaced.
