I'd like to have my mac pro's startup chime routed through the external Klipsch speakers I have attached. Currently it is only heard through the mac pro's internal speaker. I've tried setting the "alert and sound effects through" to "selected sound output device" which are the external speakers. All alerts and sound effects do play through the external speakers, except for the startup chime. My PPC Mini does send the startup chime through the external speakers so I'm thinking it's somehow built into the ROM.
Any ideas?

the chime tells you essentially that the hardware has passed POST, so it happens pre OS start up, so any settings you change in the OS won't affect it, and i'd assume any drivers for the external speakers aren't loaded at that point, thus the sound running through the internal.
