Thanks Apple for letting me know about the known problem with the Seagate internal HDD shipped with my MacBook (purchased Nov' 2006) since getting the dreaded flashing icon? at startup I have since read with horror all those others who like me have lost all their data
, yes you don't make the HDD but you put it in your machines! So my first machine (Titanium PB) lasted 2 years before the hinges broke (another known problem) and requiring one new battery and new power supply and now this (not to mention that my casing around the trackpad is breaking) I am a very happy Mac user. Of course I am never going to go back to Windows (& years now) but wtf has happened to their quality control. I am now living in Kos (a Greek island) so it's not so easy for me to pop into the Genius bar and kick up a fuss.....Anyway, sorry for the digression and back to the point of this post. So after the HDD failure I bought an external 500 Gb HD and used this to boot up Tiger until my new internal HDD arrived. After installing Tiger on the external drive I subsequently upgraded to Leopard but due to a faulty disk I was not completely successful. I then had no choice but to put Tiger back on, and in the process ending up with a Previous Version Folder. I now have the new internal HDD installed, Leopard is up and running and I have migrated everything over and of course now using Time Machine so everything is backed up but I can't delete the System sub folder from Trash from the Previous Versions folder because of two files Bootx and Boot.efi. I am prompted to hold down the Option button when emptying the trash but to no avail - can anyone please tell me how I can empty this from my Trash. Thanks! |
