Hi,
Okay I purchased a Macbook Pro in May with Leopard. It now has the 10.5.5 update and all other programs are fully operational. I installed Mircosoft Office 2008 and became aqainted with the program entourage. I did not like the "My Day" feature and decided to delete this specific application, leaving the rest of Office intact. In my search for related files I deleted Bonjour. At the time of the extraction I was unfamilure with its purpose on my computer and deemed it unnecessary. Hind sight says this is my fatal error. Can anyone share a method for re-installing the program, without having to do a DVD boot/restore? Thanks in advance. Last edited by Holocron09; 12-04-2008 at 06:55 AM. Reason: Attachment added |

My relatively pitiful understanding of Bonjour - it is not an app per se. At least not one that you will find on your Mac by looking for bonjour.app. It is a service. A service that is used by multiple applications. There is no gui interface on your Mac for Bonjour that you bring up. It is a service called by individual applications and settings.
My printer is attached to the router. While setting this printer up through the Printer settings in System Preferences, Bonjour is automatically used. Not something I had to do. Similarly, if you wish to share a printer attached to your MacBook Pro, simply go into 'Print & Fax' settings and place a check mark next to 'Share this printer'. edit: If you are interested to know what Bonjour services are running on your local network, you can grab Bonjour Browser. Not really of any benefit to most home users, but there it is. And the name of the process is not even bonjour. So, it'll do you no good looking for that in Activity Monitor. I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth. In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.
