I recently wiped out & reinstalled OSX on my 3 month old MB because it was lagging and running terribly slow... I had approx 20-30 gb of music and photo's on it... and I do not know why it was running slow...

Well now I am xfering some of my files back onto the HDD and I'm scarred that it's gonna start slowing down again as I add files too it...

Is it possible that adding data to the HDD will slow my computer down? Or was it something I picked up from one of those unmentionable websites??

If it was slowing down because I had used 25 gb's of my 150 hdd space then what's the point of these things having a 150 gb hdd if you can only use 20 gb before they start slowing down??

Could someone offer some insight please?

Thanks.

The amount of data you had on the HD did not have anything to do with it slowing down. It was probably some kind of application or service that you installed. As long as you leave a fair amount of HD space it should not slow things down. What applications did you load on the MacBook?

Doesn't sound like much at all. You might want to take it in and have them run some hardware tests on the machine. That is not normal.

Well since I wiped it out it is fine... I ran the detailed hardware test on the install disc and it said everything was normal...
I've been tinkering with computers for years and have never had anyone else work on one and don't want to have to start now...

Download and use Onyx for system maintenance, deep cache cleaning, scripts etc. It is a free download.
