Hi, I recently purchased a 2nd hand Macbook Pro from a colleague at work for a good price.
It's in great condition, but my colleague forgot to give me the admin password (before she went to noumea for two months) and she claimed she didn't have the installation discs.
Due to these circumstances my Macbook Pro is currently useless to me

Could anyone who knows anything about this issue please post here on this thread and let me know what my options are.

Some questions I have:
- Would it be possible to use any Mac OS X installation disc/s?
- Where can I get the discs from? (e.g ebay, apple store)
- Is it possible to reset the password without Mac OS X installation discs? If so, how? What are the requirements and is there a risk of damaging the system etc?
- Anything else relevant?

------

All assistance appreciated,
Thankyou.

You will need OSX Install discs; Any should work. You can get the discs for a hefty price from Apple, for a lower price on Ebay, or you can search you favorite torrent group and download an image. Technically, this is not illegal since you already own a license for the OS, with owning your laptop.

But you will need a disc.

Hey thanks for the assistance, I just want to make sure the following disc will do the trick:

Mac OS X Leopard 10.5

It's one DVD/disc in the box. Is it compatible with Macbook Pro's?

Yes, cause all you will need to do is boot to the DVD, and from there you have options, you can format the HDD, reinstall OSX, or try and reset the Admin password.

A full format and reinstall is what I would recommend, so you know it's a clean and fresh OS.

The 10.5 disk will work just fine with the Macbook Pro, I bought 10.5 right when it came out and installed it on my 1st gen MBP 15".
