Mac OS Extended (Journaled) vs. Mac OS Extendedwhen partitioning the external hard drive, I am making the bootable part in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) , but the other part wich is to backup my files should I do it in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or Mac OS Extended ,please?

It sounds like you are referring to HFS+ as intrinsically journaled. That is not the case. HFS+ is simply referring to Mac OS Extended. The journaled option is a separate matter. Then again you were not extremely clear in what you were trying to say so if that was not the case, sorry.

Yes, but by default (since 10.3), HFS+ is journaled. See here.
