    External Hard Drive
Hey, I hope someone can help me out here. I want to format my external hard drive so it can receive files larger than 4gb, I'm using a mac and the only options it gives me are Mac OS Extended or MS-DOS (FAT). At the minute the hard drive is formatted to MS-DOS (FAT). So my question is what do i need to format my hard drive to in order to receive files larger than 4gb on OS X.

    Thank You

If you format the drive to HFS+ (Mac format) it will accept files larger than 4GB. FAT-32 is limited to ~4 GB. Formatting the drive to HFS+ will also allow you to use it with Time Machine.
