MacBook - disk check in safe mode with leopard?

whats the command
my teacher only knows the one for tiger and that one does not work

reason why i need this is:
i downloaded itunes 8 and then it said i needed quicktime 7 so i got that but then i couldn't open any of my apps, so i shut it down, but then when i wet to start it, it wouldn't get past the apple logo with the spiny thing.

I always need help, always
