Is there a program like gnome-PPP for Macs?

Where you can just configure it yourself manually and then type 'pon' from the terminal to connect? I connect this way on Ubuntu, and it really saves time instead of having to install connection software off CDs (like the Verizon USB modem), and then having to open the program and click connect and wait, which takes up more time than necessary.
Is there a similar program to KPPP or gnome-PPP for Macs? Where you can just type a command in the terminal and be connected instantly?
