I just did a clean install of OSX from the CDs today, and began a time machine backup. Much to my amazement the computer told me it was planning to back up 51GB of information. I checked the hard drive to try to find what was taking all this space, and sure enough... 20GB was used, everything else was still free space. So the time machine invented 30GB to backup of its own accord, That's enough space to store everything I will learn in university over the next 4 years, devoted to some cause I can't identify.
To clarify, is not a previous backup I didn't erase, this is a progress bar staring at me saying "Time Machine Backup, 3.87GB of 51.08GB". Has anybody else had this kind of issue with time machine? It seems like an outrageous amount of extra backup, over half the information being copied is straight-up nothing! |
