Can I run vmware for linux under X11 for OSX?

I'm not sure if this is even possible, but can you run vmware for linux under X11 in os x? Just curious how it would run compared to Virtual PC for windows if you did. Or does anyone have experience with running it under linux for mac? I'm not even sure if you can just had the idea.
