OS 10.5 - trouble reformatting my computer.

I have Leopard and Id like to reformat mat my computer because I have alot of useless things taking up space. One of my buddies told me just to pop the install disc in again and I could reformat. Well I tried that but my computer sasys that can't be loaded. Is there a diffrent way to reformat my computer?

Pop the Leopard install DVD in and reboot holding down 'C' and you should then get the erase and install option.
