Hi,
When i put a blank cd or dvd into my Macbook it will ask 'do i want to open it in finder', i select open, the computer ejects the disc and leaves the following error message on the screen "the operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items".

Any ideas??

regards, Scott

Go to Finder>Preferences and ensure the box is selected to show CD, DVD and iPods when connected.

Thank you for your help but it was ticked. So i unticked it and reticked selected and the computer does the same. the computer will read cd/dvd's with data on them, they show up on the desktop. It is when a blank one is inserted it wont show up and it's ejected with that error message.

regards
Scott

I would select 'no' to Finder when asked, as a blank (unwritten) CD will not mount because there's no information on it.
If you have a burning app such as Toast or Burn they should open up when you insert a blank, and you can proceed from there.
Once written you will be given the opportunity to mount in Finder.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hugh

The only way I've found to mount a blank CD is to select "Open Finder" from the pop-up window that appears when I put the CD into my MacBook Pro (running MacOS 10.5.5). If I select anything else, it does not mount (and I can't see it in Finder afterwards, either).
