Hello all!

In the past week or so my PowerMac G5 has been acting very strange. I'm not sure if it's the OS or my hard drive that is acting up but I can't run some of my programs (Lightroom) and there are other strange anomolies. For instance, Safari crashes randomly (I think it is JavaScript induced) and the icon that pops up when you adjust the volume is glitched. (see pic)

(I can't get the pic to attach!)

I also ran Disk Utility on my hard drive and it came up with the following:

I can't seem to run repair on this volume due to the fact that it's my startup drive. I can't get it to fix it on reboot either. Nor can I boot from my OS X discs.

I'm not sure what is wrong, but if anyone could shed some light on my situation, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks to everyone in advance.

Try booting from the Tiger install DVD holding down 'C" on restart and go to utilities and run Repair Disk from there. You cannot repair a disk that is the start up drive.

Yeah, I've tried that. I have v10.2.3 and v10.3 install discs and tried them both. When I try to do it with v10.2.3, at the grey screen it will blink between the finder smilie icon, and a folder with a quesiton mark a few times, then just move into regular boot up mode. When I attempt to boot from v10.3, when it shows the apple on the white screen it will glitch and lock up.

Any other suggestions?

Thank you!

Use a Tiger DVD and NOT Jaguar or Panther discs. You have Tiger installed so you should have the disks if it is a legal copy?

I bought this computer off ebay and those are the only discs he sent with the machine.

I have an appointment at the genius bar tomorrow, so they may be able to help me out.

Thanks for the suggestion though!

Ahh those eBay sellers. You really do need to get yourself a full retail install DVD of Tiger, or even better when everything is up and running, Leopard.
