Hi

I would like to have my Mac setup so that all jpg's open in Preview.

If I create a screen grab then these do open in Preview but if I create or save a jpg in Photoshop for instance the file will open in Photoshop.

Is there any way to break this relationship, so all JPG's open in Preview regardless of where they have been created.

I know I can use open with but I want to just be able to double click on them. If I use open with and choose other and select always open with this works but again this is broken if the file is then saved in a different program.

In Windows, the file associations you create are maintained regardless of the program used to create the file so if you set a particular program to open a file type it always will.

This is one of the only things that annoys me about Leopard and I would love to know a fix. Its just really annoying when you click a jpg on your desktop that you want to open in Preview and it starts a ten second load of photoshop just to view it.

Thanks

Right click on any jpeg file and select Get Info. There is a drop down menu under Open With. Select Preview.app and then click on Change All.
