Hello,

Checking HFS Plus volume.
Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Checking multi-linked files.
Checking Catalog hierarchy.
%)
Checking Extended Attributes file.
Checking volume bitmap.
Volume Bit Map needs minor repair
Checking volume information.

Invalid volume free block count
(It should be 7002191 instead of 7002190)",2)

Volume Header needs minor repair
The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

What can i do to fix this?

Boot up from your grey restore disks (hold down the C key while starting up with the restore disk in)

Run disk utility from that CD, disk utility will be accessible from the top menu bar when you have booted up

did you get a set of restore disks with that mac (they are grey colored)

You can boot off that main restore disk, by inserting the disk, and restarting while pressing the C key as the machine boots up.

This tells the mac to boot from the dvd drive

This will eventually bring you to a screen giving you the option to restore the mac to its original settings YOU DONT WANT TO DO THAT

But from the top apple menu one option will be utilities, and pulling down that menu an option will be disk utility

You can let disk utility do a repair from there, and since you are running the utility from the DVD and not the hard drive, Disk utility will be able to do a more complete repair job on that disk.

hope that helps

Try using fsck since you don't have your disks.

To use fsck:
  1. Start up your computer in single-user mode to reach the command line.
  2. At the command-line prompt, type /sbin/fsck -fy
  3. Press Return. fsck will go through five "phases" and then return information about your disk's use and fragmentation. Once it finishes, it'll display this message if no issue is found:
** The volume (name_of_volume) appears to be OK
If fsck found issues and has altered, repaired, or fixed anything, it will display this message:
***** FILE SYSTEM WAS MODIFIED *****
Important: If this message appears, repeat the fsck command you typed in step 2 until fsck tells you that your volume appears to be OK (first-pass repairs may uncover additional issues, so this is a normal thing to do).
  4. When fsck reports that your volume is OK, type reboot at the prompt and then press Return.
Your computer should start up normally and allow you to log in.

When all else fails, try everything!

Nope! Most people use a login. If not, it will startup the way you're used to.
