Hello,
I performed a disk utility & performed a verify disk and got this message: Verifying volume “Macintosh HD” Checking HFS Plus volume. Checking Extents Overflow file. Checking Catalog file. Checking multi-linked files. Checking Catalog hierarchy. %) Checking Extended Attributes file. Checking volume bitmap. Volume Bit Map needs minor repair Checking volume information. Invalid volume free block count Invalid volume free block count (It should be 7002191 instead of 7002190)",2) Volume Header needs minor repair The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired. Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit 1 HFS volume checked Volume needs repair What can i do to fix this? Pierre |

did you get a set of restore disks with that mac (they are grey colored)
You can boot off that main restore disk, by inserting the disk, and restarting while pressing the C key as the machine boots up. This tells the mac to boot from the dvd drive This will eventually bring you to a screen giving you the option to restore the mac to its original settings YOU DONT WANT TO DO THAT But from the top apple menu one option will be utilities, and pulling down that menu an option will be disk utility You can let disk utility do a repair from there, and since you are running the utility from the DVD and not the hard drive, Disk utility will be able to do a more complete repair job on that disk. hope that helps |

Try using fsck since you don't have your disks.
To use fsck:
