i have a MacBook. I have it hooked up to my 42 inch HDTV via DVI cable. i once closed my MacBook and when i opened it back up, all of my icons and the Dock were on my HDTV. i've since tried to replicate this process but it hasn't worked. is there any way to do this or was it some kind of glitch?

Press the power button to turn it on, immediatley close the screen, this will put the display out to the external screen. After its logged in you can open your MB screen for cooling and it will remain off. You can also put it to sleep, wake it from sleep but shut the screen right after, and it will have the same effect.
