I remember a few months back before I had my MBP I saw something online about a script or file that allowed you to change the color and opacity of the dock. Anyone know what I'm talking about? thanks

Well, there are several apps that allow you to change your dock appearance. The one I use is Dock Dr., but there are more out there, certainly some that are better.

Dock Dr. is okay, I would personally use the first link.
