locate it normally in finder then just drag it over there, so it's among your home folder and documents folder etc.

My shared folder????

On the other Mac it says "Chris' MacBook" in the shared part. And you can drag things there or screen share with the laptop. But on the macbook there is just

"Devices...(stuff inside).........

Places.........

Search for........."

But not a "Shared.........." spot with all the computers on the network

Its time to go...

This bit?

Have you checked in the Finder preferences under 'Sidebar' that the boxes under shared are checked

Also, mine disappears when there's nothing around to connect to - if I'm on another network or the Time Capsule and the other computers on the network are shut down.

Like this -

If the boxes are checked in the Finder preferences and you're connected to the right network then I'm out of ideas really. Hopefully a genius will be along shortly.

If you go to [Your Computer]> Network is there anything listed? If not, that'd be why the shared bit has vanished.

Ya, its strange, because the MacBook shows up on the iMac, but not vice versa. And the other MacBook (girlfriends) has mine on it too. So Im confused

Were they there before? That's really weird. Have you tried the usual restart and turning Airport on and off?

Them seeing you and you not seeing them makes me think it's sometime in their sharing preferences rather than yours - but if they've not changed it doesn't make much sense.
