Cleaning the Library

what files should i clean out of the library. .plist files??? i'm trying to keep my computer clean and running smooth, suggestions?

in general, stay away from system>library.
you can deleate caches, preferences, reciepts from user>library (files inside these folders, not folders itself),
but DO NOT TRASH ANYTHING IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WHATS IT FOR!

get a maintenance utility to clean your mac for you (macgenitor, cocktail, macaroni)

uh oh, i already deleted some .plist files.... i guess i should try cocktail. i bought that MacAddict / Mac answers or whatever magazine and it came with a CD and I see that cocktail is on there, is there a tutorial somewhere on cocktail - i don't want to mess up my new iBook!

found a tutorial for Cocktail but looking for more freeware options.
