Connection doctor is showing that both me and my ichat participant are achieving good bitrates but we're always maxing out at 15fps.

Additional info: We are both using Macbooks and we are both on broadband. At the time of conversation we weren't using the internet for anything else. Both audio quality and video quality is excellent (nearly always 100%).

How can we boost it to 30fps?

I've read an article before, about lower FPS, due to ambient lighting. Try lighting up the area.

Look up a program called iGlasses. It may help adjust the camera settings.

When all else fails, try everything!

Does anyone know if iChat goes through central servers on its way from your computer to the computer of the person you are chatting with? It is likely that it does (most such programs do) and if so, the central servers may be throttling your frame rate, not either of your two computers.

My Macs: PowerMac G5 Quad, 2.5 GHz, 4 Core, Mac Pro, 3.2 GHz 8 Core, Power Macintosh 7500/100
My iStuff: 32 GB iPhone 4, 30 GB iPod Video, 16 GB iPod Touch
My OS': Mac OS X Tiger, Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Mac OS X Leopard, Mac OS 8.6, openSUSE 10.3, Win XP

That's interesting, cos we have very good lighting.

It'd be a shame though - i really wanna switch from Skype to iChat but until I can get near 30 fps I don't think I can convince myself.

Sorry but I just thought I'd bump the thread.
