Where are the special characters? I've tried opening them in both Pages and TextEdit using "Edit/Special Characters" and nothing happens.

I did this in Safari and Text Edit and got this both times. ?

Not me. I just tried it again and nothing. I need to use some special characters. Does anyone know why this isn't working? I really don't want to call Apple on this if I can avoid it.
