Lost bluetooth mouse

I have an imac running panther 10.3 with a cordless keyboard and mouse using bluetooth. It all works fine except when the mac wakes from sleep when the keyboard responds but the connection seems to be lost to the mouse. It doesn't come back for some time. If I reboot, however, it's fine.
Any ideas?

QUOTE Thanks
