Is there a network operating system available for macs

However, from the context of your question, I'm guessing that you are looking for a domain controller / directory services application, that provides user authentication and group policy/access controls. osx server is very easy to use. im the unofficial IT guy here (graphic designer actually) and i add/update users and permission all the time, thru Chicken of the VNC.
