OS 10.4 - security password forgotten

I hope there is a quick fix for it. It seems my mac (OSX) does nor recognize my password anymore. I am trying to install some software and it asks me for a password, which I enter and it does not work anymore. I can't setup a new one since the old one I can't remember/doesn't work. Is there any solution for it? thanx for any help |
