Ok, well I've been playing around. I've been thinking about KDE and window managers etc. I've been thinking about trying to run just one of them. I've been thinking about running one of them as well as Aqua side by side.

Maybe Apple's X11 isn't the best solution? It seems restrictive in some way. I'm not sure. Should I be using someting else. Should I just be using a plain install of Xfree86? Maybe I should be using XDarwin? What do you guys use? Do any of you guys even use this stuff? I'm just trying to play, trying to learn as I go. Perhaps some info?

I believe I've managed to distinguish between WM's and all that. Right now I'm assuming that Aqua and Quartz (pretty much the same thing, Apple's X11 using Quartz as a WM that I CANNOT change) can be run side by side with another WM? I'm not sure.

Lets see what you guys have to say and how you can help me out. Sorry for rambling. It's late now. I have about 5 finals tomorrow. Oh well. I'm busy trying to learn IMPORTANT stuff

Ok, so now from playing some more, it would appear the Apple's X11 has installed Xfree86, but it doesn't appear to be the most up to date version....I don't think. Also, whenever I would startx from the regular terminal, then load KDE with certain peramaters that I believe disabled quartz, then logout of kde....i noticed a message in the terminal stating something about xdarwin. i must say, im slightly lost.
QUOTE Thanks
