freeBSD version influencing mac OS X networking features

I am looking for the version of freeBSD that has influenced the mac OS X's networking stack features. I am stuck at the mac OS X 10.5.8 not generating any replies to the icmp timestamp request messages, although the freeBSD's 4.4BSD states that it handles the icmp timestamp request messages by "KERNEL GENERATING A REPLY". Even the 10.5.2 version of mac OS X is not responding to this.
Also, I would appreciate any help so as to define a direction into why the mac OS X is not generating a reply. I have already disabled the stealth mode in the firewall GUI from System preferences as well as the 'ipfw' through command line.
Thanks in advance,
