I have some word docs and when I open them they are displayed or opened with text edit, is there a way to have pages open and display them instead?

Right click > Get Info > Open With: Pages > Change All.

Good night and God bless

I don't get the change all option. I get to the "open with part" and I see
Pages 3.0
Pages 2.0.3

I click on one of those and it opens in pages so I got that to work but I need to do this all the time to get the Word docs to open in pages, text edit is still set as the default, how can I set pages as the default.

It still does not work. When doing what you said I do not get that option, it just opens it with pages but does not give me the option to open all files that are similar.

I get to the open with pages part and I have to select one of the 2 versions I listed above and it opens but it does not give me the pop up menu that you pictured.

Choose Other, then go to your Applications Folder and choose Word. That should give you the option to choose Word instead of just Pages 2.0.3 or Pages 3.0.

Good luck <><

I took word completely off my mac. I want Pages to be the default app. that opens all the old word docs. that I have on my computer not text edit. I go through the steps that the other poster said to do but I don't get the option to open all similar docs. with pages. I get to the second to last stage and thats where I get the option to open with one of to versions of pages and thats it.

What? You mean you don't have a Change All button? How about for other file types like Jpegs and such? Still no change all button?

Thank you for being patient with me. That is exactly what I am saying, following your steps I DO NOT get the change all button. I am heading to Vegas Tuesday to help my Mother switch from PC to Mac so I might have to have someone at the Apple store take a look at it. If you can think of anything in the mean time please let me know.

All I can say is run a disk permissions check or something (Disk Utility > Repair Disk Permissions) but I don't think it'll help.
