safari no longer d/ling DMG's

how do i set safari so that it downloads dmgs and does not automatically open them? it seems that the things dissapear, and i like to put the DMG's on a separate external disk incase my computer ever crashes again...

Go to Safari Preferences and select where you want the downloads saved to. I have a file named after the O.S. (Leopard) and send images there. Later burn them to a DVD.

Safari>Preferences...>General>Uncheck "Open safe Files Automatically After Download"

This will allow you to do whatever with the file you downloaded to either your desktop or downloads folder. it will be there just like a file you created yourself, just as you downloaded it.

PS even if you do open it you should still have the original file before extraction.
