Torrent's can be really unreliable in terms of speed. Peers are usualy other people who have a certain amount of the whole file but not all whereas seeds have the whole file. So it could get to a point where no peers have more than 80% of the whole file so that means you can't download more that 80% unless there is a seeder.

Are you using a private tracker or public tracker for this download? Cause you will most definitely get high speeds while using Private trackers, the opposite of which is true with Public ones.

Also, check out Transmission, a much better torrent client for the mac.

Trust me, you would know I'm guessing it's a public tracker. Private trackers are where you need to register, and maintain a good sharing ratio and such.

You could check out the little guide I wrote on my blog. First Link

That's the thing with public trackers. They are very unreliable. Here's what. Just to make sure there's nothing wrong with your torrent client or connection, try downloading Ubuntu 7.10 from their site. That torrent is always loaded with seeders. If you don't max out on your connection, there's something going on with your torrent client.

I'm not sure we are allowed to discuss specific torrents in here, against the forum rules, but if I were looking at a torrent with that many seeds on Mininova, I'd wait a long time.
