so, I know to a lot of you this may be a dumb question lol, but I have no clue.
i was looking through my documents for a few Word documents. Half of them were there, and the other half weren't.
so i opened Word and sure enough, they were in the "recent" column
so i opened them
checked the properties and the were on the Mac HD:Volume

ive looked in the finder for a while now
and no luck
how do i access the other volumes on my hard drive
and are the other volumes necessary?

any help is greatly appreciated

They're not on your hard disk, they're on other volumes that have been ejected.

The invisible /Volumes folder on your system's hard disk is where other volumes are mounted. For example, a CD might appear as Macintosh HD:Volumes:My CD, and a network share might appear as Macintosh HD:Volumes:Network Share. For no good reason, Microsoft's software shows these confusing "mount points" instead of the actual disk name.

To find those files, you'll have to connect the device(s) those files were originally on.
