Running leopard on a C2D macbook. Still running iLife 06. Time machine doesn't seem to work with any of the iLife 06 apps. I launch the app, activate time machine, and I get a time machine view of the desktop folder?

Anyone successful in running time machine with iLife 06?

That sounds right to me. Time Machine shows the active Finder window, and presumably defaults to the desktop if none is open; it doesn't "work with" any specific set of apps.

I judge you when you use poor grammar.

I've seen demos of time machine used in conjunction with iphoto. No luck with iphoto 06

I'm sure it's only compatible with iPhoto '08. You can still get the files from iPhoto '06 by just going through the Time Machine backup in Finder.
