Well my disk repair tellls me that 1 HFS volume needs repair, but once its verifyed the disk, an erro comes up.
"Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit"

So I cant the repair the disk. What should I do, or what can I do to fix it.

I think this problem, is why I am unable to play Civ IV.

try and repair the permissions on the disk and then do a disk repair... not sure if that will fix it, but worth a try

I did that, but the same erro came up. I also re-started to see if that helped, it did not.Would it help if I re-installed Mac OS X?

Repair the disc and permissions from your Install disc, rather than from the HD itself.
If you don't have the disc, you will need to boot into single user mode and do it from there.
Let me know what OS you are using (Tiger I would imagine) and I will tell you how.

Check out the single-user-mode, disk-repair instructions in this old post. You don't need the DVD.
