I have both pages 08 and Word 2004. i like both but im unsure which one i should use as my main word processor for work and assignments.
In the past I have been a very heavy user of microsoft word (2007) and in university most lectures provide information in .doc word files. For this reason i m thinking the best option for me would be to use word, what do you think? Can keynote open up microsoft powerpoint files? If not is there any way of opening powerpoint files on my mac with out using emulation software? Thanks. |

You again?
![]() Anyway, in my experience, Keynote has opened every powerpoint document I've thrown at it perfectly. No problems whatsoever. Only problem is you make a flashy presentation in Keynote and then if you want to export it to PPT, you will find all your effects gone away cause Powerpoint basically sucks. As for Word/Pages compatibility, stuff like macros and such won't work in Pages. It opens even DocX files so that's good. Sometimes you might find a table going a bit weird or something but otherwise it opens up fine. I haven't tested numbers. Given all this, I highly recommend you download the 30 day trial version from Apple.com and see how you like it. |

Pages 08. Definitely. I used Word 2004 for a couple of years because I couldn't stand Pages... then Pages 08 came out and it just blew me away. Handles Word docs perfectly, exports them as .docs if you want and has a few other handy features. Well worth it.

Pages 08, is significantly better than previous version. My only complaint is the Grammar check won't let you ignore and keeps flagging the same words over and over. Not a major issue, although hopefully they will add that as a new feature in updated versions.
Like all of you I am trying to get away from Office, and don't see the need (hopefully) to purchase the new version. I only use Word and occasionally Excel. Between Pages and Neo Office, I am satisfied so far. |

Hold Command+Shift+D while hovering over a word. A dictionary will pop up. At the bottom of the Pop-up will be "Oxford Dictionary". Click on it (All while holding the command+shift+D) and select "Oxford Thesaurus".
This trick works in all Cocoa applications like textedit, safari and others. |

Yeah I had this same question about 2 months ago and decided to download the trial for iWork 08 and it turned out beautifully. I really appreciate the cutdown design. I hate it when apps throw a bunch of crap in your face that you don't even need at the time. I really didn't like the redesign that the new office came with either. I think microsoft has a really weird way of laying out the things in their programs. Same goes for Windows Media Player and everything else in vista. I really felt it was counter productive.

Hey guys I have a question about Pages '08...its kind of stupid but nonetheless driving me nuts. Is there a way to space out bullet points after already typing them? In other words, I want to put a blank line between each item on a numbered list and can't seem to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
