Hello This is my 1st Mac. i am trying to use i chat with my buddy that just bought a Mac also. We can not connect. We keep getting a not able to connect error 8. Help>>>>>>>>>>

Check each of your firewalls and preference settings.

Just saw the post and happen to be the buddy that harleyhock is chatting with. We are able to use text just not audio or video, and neither one of us has a firewall hooked up. Wondering if it is something to do with his imac account expiring?????

If you're using iChat to communicate, having or not having a mac account with Apple will not make a difference.

okay. Any other ideas? I do have an airport extreme. We both have home networks with wpa encryption?

WPA is just your network encryption, so random people do not connect to your wireless network directly.

Also, I may have been wrong above the mac accounts. I came across this on the web, take a read:
